StoreDot, a pioneer in ultra-fast charging, announced that Polestar Automotive intends to integrate Extremely Fast Charging (XFC) batteries into electric vehicles.

To introduce XFC batteries into Polestar’s electric cars, the Swedish premium car manufacturer will work with StoreDot on engineering solutions. A prototype electric car will be demonstrated as early as next year, and by 2027, StoreDot expects Polestar cars with XFC batteries to appear on public roads.

Polestar cars are currently available in Europe, North America, China and Asia-Pacific markets. The company’s production is located at two plants in China, with plans to open new facilities in the U.S. in the future. The lineup has four electric vehicles, and last month Polestar reported that electric vehicle (EV) deliveries were up 50% in the third quarter compared to a year earlier. Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, commented on the new phase of the partnership with the Israeli startup, “StoreDot was our first investment in another company and we are collaborating to apply cutting-edge technology to Polestar’s experimental vehicles. StoreDot’s groundbreaking batteries with extremely fast charging, combined with our future first-in-class electric drivetrain, could revolutionize the use of electric vehicles by being able to charge in minutes.”
